Job Description
Reporting to the Carpenter Foreman, the Carpenter performs carpentry maintenance and construction tasks addressing building requirements/needs for the University & campus community.
Required Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to operate carpentry equipment and power tools for repair, maintenance, modification, installation, and to identify equipment problems.
• Ability to read and write, plan/forecast goals/objectives, organize, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to follow work/safety instructions, give instructions, read/write work orders, handle basic mathematical calculations, comprehend/interpret documents/blueprints, and keep records/reports.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle. (A valid driver's license is required)
• Resolve carpentry-related problems, assess/evaluate for carpentry projects, work with little/limited supervision, provide recommendations, make decisions working independently, maintain/repair equipment, and meet deadlines.
• Exhibit diplomacy, apply logic, observe behaviors, record/compile data, participate as a team member, develop/maintain effective working relationships, provide leadership and training to other employees, exercise judgment/discretion, maintain confidentiality, and think/respond in emergency situations.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Position designated as essential personnel.
