Job Description
The Associate Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the university’s senior technology leader, responsible for advancing a modern, secure, and innovative IT environment that supports the institution’s academic and administrative mission. As a member of the Finance and Administration leadership team, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role plays a key part in shaping and executing the university’s technology strategy in support of empowering brighter futures and building stronger communities.
The CIO leads the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of enterprise IT services, driving innovation, data-informed decision-making, and operational excellence. This position partners across the university to align technology initiatives with institutional priorities and enhance the experience of students, faculty, and staff.
Required Qualifications
•Demonstrated experience providing strategic leadership for enterprise IT in a complex organization, including aligning technology with organizational priorities.
•Proven success leading major IT operations and initiatives, including enterprise systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cloud services.
•Experience leading process improvement and technology-enabled transformation.
•Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, including cloud, cybersecurity, data/analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI).
•Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
•Proven ability to analyze issues, leverage data to inform decisions, and deliver results.
•Advanced degree in a related field or a combination of a bachelor's degree, training, and experience equating to an advanced degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in higher education IT leadership.
•Experience with data governance, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
•Familiarity with information security, identity management, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FERPA, accessibility).
•Experience with enterprise platforms such as ERP, CRM, and LMS systems.
•Experience leading cloud or SaaS transformations.
