Job Description

Manages University mechanical systems, ensuring that equipment is maintained & operating in a safe & efficient manner. Supervises & directs Plumbing, HVAC & Preventative Maintenance shops in the completion of assigned tasks & responsibilities. Ensures & documents productivity of staff & contractors in repair & maintenance of University systems.

This position is designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during closings or emergency situations.

Required Qualifications

  • A thorough knowledge of commercial, industrial, and residential mechanical systems, plumber/steamfitter trade, and/or HVAC trade.
  • Ability to read and analyze mechanical and piping drawings.
  • Ability to supervise and manage staff and contract crews.
  • A thorough knowledge of fire suppression systems and HVAC equipment.
  • Computer and word processing skills are essential.
  • Ability to develop estimates and perform "take-offs" from drawings.
  • Familiarity with building codes.
  • Experience with building automation systems.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must hold or have the ability to obtain a state license in Plumbing and/or HVAC within 12 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

State licensure in Plumbing and/or HVAC preferred.
