Job Description

The Career Coach provides multifaceted career development advising services for students both at the undergraduate, graduate and professional school levels. Help students explore a variety of career options aligned with their academic pursuits, teach/ instruct career and professional development courses. Focus career coaching in the areas of healthcare, life sciences and STEM to students studying at both the Main campus and Roanoke campuses. The career coach will serve on retention initiatives, connect students to industry experts and cultivate experiential learning opportunities regionally and nationally as needed. Design and create digital newsletters to post internships and full-time jobs with employers representing healthcare and science/ research career pathways. Cultivate partnerships with faculty and present career-related programs and workshops in the classroom. Gain proficiency in utilizing such software platforms including Handshake, Career Coach, CareerShift, Big Interview and other proprietary technologies. Represent CCTD on the Pre-Health/Pre-Med student leadership club.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated track record of innovative thinking and problem-solving. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare and science-related career paths and recruiting practices. Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, management and training abilities. Advanced project and program management abilities. Proven ability to advise students in multiple majors, including the Humanities, social sciences, STEM and business.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrate the ability to teach and/coach college level students. Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with key partners. Possess technical skills in Microsoft Office, Handshake, Career Coach assessment software and the utilization of CareerShift and Big Interview.

The Admissions Counselor works directly with Deans, faculty, and staff, as needed, in the development of an effective, data-informed enrollment planning process to recruit a pool of students meeting the University’s strategic goals for all populations of students. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for meeting the enrollment goals of the University by independently developing and managing a specific assigned recruitment territory to identify, attract, select and enroll diverse and qualified students to Radford University. Through oversight of prospect generation, recruitment travel, outreach, and yield efforts related to both students and families, this position will establish direct territory-specific initiatives to meet territory recruitment goals. The Admissions Counselor will be expected to engage in extensive recruitment travel (including evening, weekend, and extended overnight); conducting recruitment presentations across a territory; serving as ambassadors for Radford University to visiting prospective students and families; as well as advising potential freshman and transfer students on admissions procedures, policies, and pathways. The Admissions Counselor will develop an in-depth understanding of admissions practices, institutional policies, and program offerings to effectively recruit students. The Admissions Counselor will also implement a domestic student recruitment plan which includes high school visits, two-year college visits, college fairs, information sessions, receptions, and meetings with secondary school and independent counselors, prospective students, families, and community-based organizations, and support the recruitment and admission of transfer students from institutions within the assigned territory.
