Job Description
The Associate Director for Housing Operations reports directly to the Director of Housing and Residential Life with a primary focus on managing housing operations for Radford University’s residential system, which encompasses both residence halls and off-campus apartments, housing approximately 3,000 students. The Associate Director for Housing Operations ensures a thriving and engaged residential experience that aligns with the mission of the institution, advances the strategic plan, and supports student achievement and discovery.
The Associate Director for Housing Operations provides strategic leadership and invested supervision for housing operations, including:
- Serve as a member of the Housing and Residential Life (HRL) senior leadership team.
- Recruitment, selection, on-going development, and performance management of professional and student staff.
- Development and implementation of housing assignment cycles and processes.
- Ongoing occupancy management, assessment, and data reporting.
- Residential facilities, furniture, and equipment management.
- Oversight of department technology initiatives with primary focus in the areas of housing management software, marketing, communication, social media, and website management.
- Extensive collaboration with several units across campus, including Enrollment Management, Finance and Administration, Facilities Management, etc.
Required Qualifications
-Applicant must be a current full-time employee of Radford University.
- Advanced degree in Student Affairs, Education, related field or equivalent training, education and/or experience working in college or university housing.
- Experience with housing software systems, reporting tools, and/or relational databases.
- Experience collecting, entering, analyzing, and organizing data and developing reports.
- Demonstrated ability exercising professional discretion and judgment with confidential information and materials.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide range of audiences, including students, families/guardians, the public, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability coordinating communications, marketing, and/or social media efforts.
- Record of and commitment to creating supportive environments that foster student success and retention.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Progressive experience in housing and residential life operations in a college or university setting.
- Familiarity with StarRez and Banner database systems.
- Experience leading housing operations, housing assignment processes, assessment, forecasting occupancy, and/or maintaining occupancy levels.
- Experience developing and carrying out marketing strategies around university services. 
- Experience supervising professional staff.
- Experience serving in an administrative/crisis on-call rotation.
- Experience in providing high quality customer or front-line service.
