Job Description

Under the supervision of the Recycling and Solid Waste Coordinator, the Solid Waste Technician performs responsible work in the daily collection, handling, and disposal of solid waste materials generated across campus buildings. The position also provides limited support to recycling operations as directed to maintain continuity of waste and recycling services. Work is performed primarily on foot, inside university buildings, and outdoors using small utility vehicles or golf carts. The technician supports Radford University’s commitment to cleanliness, safety, and sustainability through responsible solid waste management practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to follow daily work schedules and complete assigned routes reliably.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads and perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to interact professionally with the campus community and coworkers in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in waste or custodial services.
  • Familiarity with solid waste and recycling procedures.
  • Skill in operating small utility vehicles and related equipment safely.

Employment Conditions: Must have a valid driver's license & essential/emergency call-in personnel.
