Job Description

Radford University seeks a qualified educator to serve as program coordinator supporting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program. This grant-funded position includes managing grant budgets, scheduling courses, advising students, and teaching DHH and special education coursework. The successful candidate will effectively recruit and support students, collaborate with faculty in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership as well as with adjuncts and state partners to ensure high-quality preparation for educators of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

This grant-funded program coordinator position includes managing grant budgets, scheduling courses, advising students, and teaching DHH and special education coursework. The coordinator will effectively recruit and support students, collaborate with faculty in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership as well as with adjuncts and state partners to ensure high-quality preparation for educators of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Key Responsibilities
1. Budget Management
• Prepare annual grant budget and monitor expenditures.
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements and financial reporting.
2. Program Coordination
• Recruit, advise, and retain student participants in the program.
• Respond to licensure and program inquiries.
• Schedule program-related courses; secure adjunct faculty for summer coursework.
• Maintain individualized Programs of Study and monitor academic progress.
• Manage curriculum revisions and update program materials.
•Participate in statewide organizations and events related to DHH education.
3. Instruction & Supervision
• Teach the equivalent of 12 credit hours in Fall and 12 in Spring; in-person and online formats.
• Advise degree and non-degree-seeking students in the DHH program.
4. Summer Coordination & Instruction
• Provide coordination and advising during the summer as needed (with supplemental summer pay).
• Support adjunct faculty teaching summer DHH coursework.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
• Knowledge of ASL and Deaf culture.
• Familiarity with Virginia teacher licensure requirements.
• Ability to manage budgets and coordinate academic programs.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching and supporting diverse learners in K-12 schools.
• Experience teaching and advising in higher education.
• Understanding of provisional teacher licensure requirements.
