Job Description
This position is for the online MSN and DNP Nursing Leadership/Administration tracks. Tenure-track faculty positions provide probationary appointments. Tenure-track faculty hold renewable, full-time appointments for one-year terms, subject to annual reappointment as described in the Teaching and Research (T&R) Faculty Handbook. Responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, and service with expectations of relevant clinical practice and nursing leadership/administration experience. The principal functions of the faculty shall be to
• Engage students in an online environment and adapt teaching style for the adult learner with prior clinical experience;
• Teach nursing concepts such as leadership and management, evidence-based practice, health policy, clinical practicum, and research;
• Develop, implement, and evaluate the mission, vision, core values, and objectives
(program outcomes) of Radford University and the College of Nursing;
• Design, implement, teach, evaluate, and revise the graduate curriculum. Faculty
shall provide evidence of education and experience necessary to indicate that they are
competent to teach a given course;
• Participate in academic advisement and counseling of students in accordance with
requirements of the Financial Educational Rights and Privacy Act (20 USC § 1232g);
• Provide opportunities for and evidence of student evaluation of curriculum, teaching,
and program effectiveness; and,
• Document actions taken in department and committee meetings using a systematic
plan of evaluation for total program review
Requirements include education, experience, certification, and a desire to teach Nursing Administration and Leadership online within the graduate program.
Required Qualifications
A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Doctorate in Nursing or related discipline.
Applicants must hold or be eligible for unencumbered licensure in Virginia.
CPR required.
If certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse, continued active certification is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those with the education, experience, certification, and desire to teach nursing administration and leadership.
Recent clinical and administrative experience desired.
Prior teaching experience in the classroom, online, and clinical practice is preferred.
